Sarah Clancy, MA PhD
Sarah Clancy is a Research Coordinator for the Knowledge Translation Platform Evaluation project (http://www.researchtopolicy.org/ktpes/ktpe-overview), which is examining the activities, outputs, outcomes and impacts of knowledge translation platforms in low- and middle-income countries. Prior to joining PPD, Sarah’s research involved the use of qualitative, archival and quantitative research methods, specifically in assessing youth and young adults’ self-image and identity development, with particular interest in how gender, culture, fashion, the media and socialization affect these processes.
She earned her BA and PhD in sociology from McMaster University, and her master’s degree in sociology from the University of Guelph. Her PhD thesis project analyzed strategies used to market ‘tween’ fashion images, and their influence on self-image and mother-child relationships.
She was the recipient of a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellowship for 2009-2011, and previously worked under a SSHRC grant as a statistical data consultant and survey designer. Her research background includes expertise in research methods, social psychology and identity, and the sociology of health and well-being.
